I gave up on Miles when he hired Cam Cameron as OC. That might have been his Icarus moment. He brought in a buddy who was no more than an NFL retread to serve as yes man when Leslie decided he wanted the play sheet. It was that hire that I saw Miles was more interested in protecting his fiefdom than developing an offense that even he, antiquated philosophy aside, had to realize needed to be overhauled. He was stubborn. He dug in, and Saturday night or by Sunday noon his head will roll around in a basket. Hubris is a bitch.

Chavis was on board as long as clause was removed. He was being told by Miles on more than a few occasions he was getting it removed but it didn't happen.

And as Red would say, you keep making shit up. Alleva did what any AD with a brain would have done. Miles was given a ton of chances to right the ship and get a clue about offense. If you truly think Miles failed because of Alleva you really are lost in space.

Mrs Alleva, your husband has been undermining Les for at least one year. Would LSU have been better this year if Chavis had stayed? Were any replacement DCs scared off because they realized Les was on shaky ground? Did Franks decommit because Cameron (who recruited him along w BDP) didn't get his contract renewed earlier this year? Mrs. Alleva is it really your position that your husband in no way undermined Coach Miles program? They are fishing buddies huh?

Reading comprehension. Your strong point. Not. I've said it was time for Les to go. Doesn't change the fact that Alleva and his TAF overlords have botched this and have been undermining Les for at least 1 year. Left alone, quite feasible Les wins the NC next year.

Should he have taken the clause out of his contract so LSU would owe him more money if Les continued to shoot himself in the foot? Hell no, smart move and the right thing to do. Should he have extended Cam's contract so LSU would owe him more money if Les continued to shoot himself in the foot and Cam's offense continued to suck? Hell no, smart move and the right thing to do. Did either of those things help Miles? No, but the Cam deal had no effect and both moves were the correct thing for an AD to do. Had Miles been doing his job neither would have even been an issue worth talking about, so it's Miles fault for putting Alleva in a position where those were the smart moves to make. Not sabotage as you keep claiming with ZERO evidence, just smart moves. So keep blaming Miles' failures on someone else Kathy, but everyone that has been paying attention knows Miles only has himself to blame.

Nah. Les isn't that kind of guy. Besides, if you're getting on thin ice, one sure-fire way to fall completely through is to get in a public spat with the boss. Serves no purpose and screws potential employment elsewhere. I'm not a fan of Alleva, either, but there's now way he intentionally tried to undermine Les by holding assistant contracts hostage. Why keep paying for something if you're not getting a return.

Cost em the bowl game vs Notre Dame, that okay? With Chavis, maybe LSU is in the playoff this year with only one loss instead of the subject of national ridicule over the spectacle we now enjoy. Maybe star recruits aren't decommitting? Many think LSU was a contender next year and would have the top recruiting class. And now?

Alleva and the TAF made this situation worse than it should have been. Smart? Hell no. Smart would have been keeping mouths shut until Les is gone. Or firing Les the minute you no longer honor his requests about his assistant coaches.

Roynav, you bring up some interesting thoughts to ponder, but in the end, CLM was his own undoing on and after Jan 9, 2012. I can understand and empathize with your thoughts about a BoS member leaking information out as having zero class, and not showing Les the respect he deserves. And, maybe, Alleva was a bit passive aggressive in how he/TAF handled Chavis' contract, but as TT points out, it's there job at some point to hold them accountable and not just write blank checks. If, after the NC game against Bama, CLM hired an OC to turn the offense over completely and evolve it into the 21st century, and if that progress was realized, then there would never have been a mass exodus of players to the NFL, our team would be more experienced w/more offensive success (due to CLM turning the offense over, and more experienced players), and Chavis' clause would likely never have been an issue, and none of us would be posting about a coaching change right now. Instead, he hired Cam Cameron, who had promise, but doesn't get to make calls when they matter, and the offense is the same exact offense since 2008. With that, we've had moderate success, but lose to teams who know our MO, and know we can't pass the ball. Nothing has changed (players are still leaving early at a higher clip than any other school, and we are still not passing the ball successfully), and that is why CLM is going. It's time. It's that simple.

I completely agree. Les is not that kind of guy.Which is exactly why the way this has been handle is shameful. Les took the high road. Alleva, the BoS and TAF did not.
