Also depends on the health of their QB. If Dorsey and company knock him out, they have no backup. Ms St will have more 3 and outs, which will mean more opportunities for Flynn to keep grinding. I think the dawgs defense will get pretty tired and the score will eventually creep into blowout status. Bear in mind how many QB's we knocked out of games last year. I feel sorry for Ms St's left tackle. He will have a long painful night...
I kind of feel like it will creep into blowout status, but when asked to predict a score, I have a hard being anything other than conservative. Especially when it's early in the season. Part of my pre-game supersitions, I guess. What's the forecast for tonight? Is it still supposed to rain?
Fortunately for State, their offensive line is perhaps their best unit with five returning starters. Croom says he'll have more opportunity to use the one-back set than previously, when a second blocking back was often needed to protect the QB.
I don't see this game being a blowout. If it was played later in the season, probably. But LSU never come's out the gate on fire.
I'd like to think it will be a blowout, but I don't feel confident enough to put money on the 18 point spread. Rain ultimately convinced me not to bet on the game. Here's how I see it. The first half will be close (within 14 points), but we'll pull away a bit in the second, winning by 21 with a final score of 28-7 with 7 points due to a turnover in our own territory. This is a new offense with many new starters and a new OC. Generally speaking, it takes a few games for an offense to adjust. However, in Crowton's case his teams have tended to start off red hot, and are capable of putting up a lot of points. My feeling is that we just want to get out of this game with a W and a better feel for what the young guys are capable of. We won't try to run up the score because we'll try to keep as much of the playbook hidden as possible for our bigger games. Thus, I do not believe it will be a blow out.
Heard him say that as well, but have a hard time believing they can handle this defense without max protection. You gotta double Dorsey or he will eat you alive. If you try to block Jackson without help from a TE, he'll blow by the RT. Then you have Favorite/Alexander going one-on-one (due to doubling Dorsey) and Ahem/Pittman coming off the right side. And I have yet to mention any blitzing. I'm sure he'll try it, but I have to think they'll be in max protection if he wants to throw it downfield. They can throw the quick hitters, but I just don't see any Oline blocking our Dline without help. Damn, is it gametime yet?
