We are looking for a coach, and choices that come to mind are Kim Mulkey from Baylor, Brenda Frese from Maryland, Jeff Walz from Louisville, and Bruce Pearl. So who should we get?
Before you vote Brenda Frese and Kim Mulkey have both won national championships. Jeff Walz led Louisville to their first national championship in just his second year of coaching there. And Bruce Pearl is always in the NCAA tournament. They all are known for recruiting.
I seriously doubt LSU will fork over the money that a national championship-winning coach commands. The fan interest and revenue aren't there right now, and neither is the AD money. I think LSU grabs a coach like Trent with a good resume with a mid-range salary, who also knows how to recruit.
I think Kim Mulkey is impossible to get. I think Jeff Walz or Brenda Frese should come in. Walz at Louisville, and Frese at Maryland can come in, fan support at Louisville and Maryland is just about the same at LSU.
Pearl and his history with young girls and violations would make him last on our list of candidates. Hide your kids, hide your wife...
I haven't heard of any interest from anyone on this. Are there any names floating around other than a fans wish list?
No chance on Mulkey and obviously no chance on Pearl. I don't know the other two but I have to imagine LSU is a decent gig to have.
I don't want Kim Mulkey! I always liked her but lost respect after watching several games. She works the refs like Bobby Knight. She didn't win the title due to being the best team. She won because she was able to work the refs. No thanks!
