I still think the Oregon State disaster was the worst I had seen....I just remember not knowing anything about them...then seeing them everywhere for months

Well, someone beat me to it.

The 1998 team had far more talent than the 89 team.

On offense the 89 team had 10 back.
with a total of 13 letterman back.
    On defense 6 back.
with a total of 11 letterman back.
The secondary was very weak returning and the dl was very thin. Before the season I pick us to win 8.
    LSU goes 4-7

    The 98 team had
    Offense: 8 returning
    14 lettermen
    Defense: 7 returning
    13 lettermen

Cecil Collins was on the 97 team not the 98.
On offense LSU played very well all year, its on defense the team fell apart, which stats I have posted before.

The 98 team didn't have any weakest going into the season, it's only Lou's defense that killed this team, which should have won 9-10 games.
LSU goes 4-7 losing many shootout type games.

BTW pick up the 89 and 98 media guides and see just now much more talent is on the 98 team (it's not close).

With aggie brothers, one learns the HIGH points of aggie sports.

Why post rubbish like a link to this garbage of an article SO CLOSE to season opening? :dis: You've got to be crazy as "bat****" to do something like this. This thread deserves the death penalty without any further remarks. Let's not jinx the team. We need all the good mojo we can get this year.

:geauxtige LSU! :champs: :helmet: :geauxtige  :champs: :helmet: :crystal:

Because Mike Archer or DiZero are not coaching the team, because character is a non-issue, and the days of LSU being considered a fluke rather than a power are long gone. We can talk about this silliness because LSU football is truly a player on the national scene. Just about all of the teams listed were at the beginning of a major drop, ranked highly due to past success rather than looking at the then-current situation.

2005 might feature a double dose of orange UT slides. Tennessee and the Longhorns.

Texas is doing a nice job of setting themselves up for a big fall. Nike is funding a "1963 throwback" uniform for the opener against ULL, to honor the 43rd anniversary of their 1st national title and is considering paying for a 1969 version of their second and last true #1 ranking for a game later in the season. The Longhorn faithful have made the Rose Bowl a foregone conclusion, overlooking games in Columbus and Dallas. Mac Brown brings home a 9-2 record and things will be ugly in the 40 acres
