Eight were listed, and three were actually sold and retrieved.

But even 1 would have been an embarrassment by itself.

Not something to be proud of...!!

The best thing that happened this season was the record that David Greene set. He broke Peyton Mannings NCAA 39 game win record for a starter by leaving the mark at 42 career wins by a starter. That will probably be in the books for a very long time.

Wouldn't hurt your conference's basketball cred either. :thumb:

I'm well aware of Big 10 football. My father played on a NC team at Minnesota under Bernie Bierman. Minnesota has more NC's than any other Big 10 school.

Bowl games remain more about money and fan support than true competition,
but I still believe that you have to go with putting the best talent on the field and slugging it out in a true college playoff series.

If you look at the stats from the Outback, you will see that Wisconsin had almost no offense. Unforunately, Richt doesn't like to press a game if he thinks he has it won. It will probably bite him good somewhere down the road.

Chip, let's turn the table for a sec....

Are you saying, let's say... that next year the loaded SEC spends so much time beating the crap out of each other that a two or three loss team wins the SEC title game and is ranked #9 nationally..... and therefore should not be allowed to be part of an 8 team play-off for the national title?

Even as a loyal Hawkeye fan, that would be most upsetting.

The Wissies have had zip for offense all year. They were so bad they almost made our offense look good.

I can't recall a NC team, in recent history, with more than 1 loss, but in a playoff series, I guess that 2 losses by the number 8 seed would be possible.

All in all, I'd still rather go with the best teams available instead of putting a mediocre team into the mix. If the SEC couldn't produce a top 8 team, so be it.

That would piss me off, probably because if that system had been in place in 2001, we would have been left out. We won the SEC with a 9-3 record, then embarrased Illinois in the Sugar to finish 10-3. Before the Sugar Bowl, we were ranked #11, if memory serves, though I am sure we could have competed with anyone in the nation by the end of the year. Josh Reed and Michael Clayton on opposite sides of the field was unstoppable.
