You mean similar to what Saban did this past season (minus the "tie for the West title"--we didn't even tie it)?? ...and Nick was offered a raise. A helluva raise too. As the saying goes: "it's not where you start, it's where you finish"...and right now, for better or worse, Brady has our beloved Tigers, as a 6th seed in the NCAA Tourny and praise from guru's like Digger Phelps (referring to us last night as one of the most over-looked teams, but also one that if we make it far enough, have the type of team to knock off highly-touted Oklahoma State). Basically, the way I see it, firing Brady is out of the question right now. In fact, so too is talk of giving him a raise. If our Tigers make the Sweet 16 or higher, then I believe a pay increase is due...No question. Anything less, should still result in Brady keeping his job, and his regular pay.
Never in any of my posts have I said fire Brady; Until last season I was a huge Brady fan. I just want the basketball program accountable to the same standards as football. I played, coached, and officated basketball, I love basketball. I'll even say it's a superior sport to football, albeit a razor thin margin. I drives me nuts that LSU fans will settle for second fiddle hoops. John Brady now has a bar to reach. This roller coaster of mediocrity basketball, 2 winning SEC records in 8 years, must end. There must be improvement next season. A Final Four should be a realistic expectation for the alma mater. Thursday I hope the Brown Suits outcoaches my ideal choice. Brady runs a clean ship, academics have improved, and he signs the POY on a regular basis. There is no reason why LSU should not post 20+ wins annually.
