What is.....ice...hockey?:huh::huh: Seriously, ice hockey will never fly in South Louisiana, the semi pro failure should be proof enough.
Wouldn't work. Lets stick to things we can kick azz in like football and baseball and now maybe men's BB.
hmmmm..... lets see here..... yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.... all yankees where its freakin cold! imagine that, ice hockey ponies (sorry, i have a hard time putting ice hockey and studs together) in a cold weather climate and not the deep south. i dont even like going to indoor ice arenas. too freakin cold! they can have it.
ice hockey has a pretty decent following in N. LA, partially b/c of the Bossier Mudbugs... Or it could be that like supafan said, we relate so well to men with mullets, 1 full set of teeth between 18 men, running(skating) around trying to knock someones head off. No, seriously, Hockey has been the only semi-pro sport besides AAA baseball to last 10 yrs in this town. Also with the Stars in Dallas, I'm sure there are youth leagues that LSU could have a recruiting base out of. If I could choose between ice hockey and lacrosse, my choice would be lacrosse
I'm here up in N. La. and yes the MudBugs do very well, but they all Canadians trying to get to the big league. It wouldn't work for a southern college team to have hockey. Why would all those Canadians bypass all the good teams up north to play for a southern school.
Have you been north of the mason dixon line? The girls up there are like whales man. j/k but compare the quality of chicks in the north to the quality we have here in the south and thats one reason to some play hockey in the south. Also, just like any other sport, if you start spitting out pro prospects and having good seasons then thats how you get the guys from canada, finland, russia etc. Hey you gotta use whatever recruiting tools that are available.
The Kingfish! I went once, I guess for the novelty of it. Never went back. Although I did catch one of those t-shirt rolls that the zamboni shot out into the crowd, and I believe that shirt is still in my closet. But yeah, it's already been said:
