100% correct, Alley is a bust the middle kind of back, he should have been in the thick of things for sure. Especially with outside cuts and the corner taken away. I hope Jimbo never has a game of calling plays this bad again.
You know zilch about football and it's obvious. tirk explained it well, re-read his post. Play calling in the 1st half especially.....sucked.
Let me ask you a question? Was VT defense that good against USC too? I'm not saying that OSU doesn't have a good defense but I will say why don't you people see what happend when JM went into the game. We actually had 2 drives that led to td's in this game with Randall running one of them in. I think the problem on offense had more to do sadly with field conditions, inexperience playcalling and dropped passes not to mention a timely penalty to take away a 7-6 LSU lead in the 1st quarter. I do think Alley should've had more playing time with the conditions like they were. the last of the 4th and ot their defense didn't look that good!
Make up your mind. First both QB's sucked big time now Jimbo handicapped them so bad that Joe Montana wouldn't have had a prayer. You also seem to be the only one here that didn't see that Russell played better then Randall although neither played very good to say the least. I'm not sure how much Jwho77 knows about football but at least he is not blind. Time to clean your glasses and pick one story line and stick to it.
Tirk, I am with you all the way. Good points. The silver lining is that the team will regroup and only get better. This is not the time for fans pointing fingers and project so much negativity; the team knew they got outplayed most of the game. Yesterday's game experience, though stressfull and frustrating, can be a positive asset for the team. ________ Wendie 99
Great post Tirk. JV is good on grass but great on turf(like DD). We should have used ALLEY right up the gut in that slop.
I definitely think Alley was the better choice, but the bottom line was out O-line did not perform well at all. Give credit to Swancutt (or whatever his name is) and the gang. Ramah's rants on how small their D-line was and how we would simply overpower them by just showing up on the field. Rediculous. Ramah usually talks with his heart, and in this case, he was WAY off. The LSU offensive line needs work. The play calling does need to improve to give the QB a chance to succeed. I said from the outset that if they try and use Randall as a drop back pocket passer, he would fail miserably. They did. He did. I just hope Russell plays 3 quarters of the game next week so he can be more ready for Auburn.
I don't give a flip who says what Jimbo ****ed up in the first half with lame play calls on a wet field. And, he'll probably fess up to it if someone calls him on it in his weekly Talk Show Monday ... ASK HIM The field wasn't wet ... there was a little grass in the water :hihi: The game (all aspects) in this type environment ... SHOULD MOVE NORTH SOUTH ... QUICKLY You don't call the plays Fisher called ... Anyone that doesn't know we got outcoached ... doesn't know his azz from his elbow :lsug:
It's obvious a computer runt like you has never had to put on the pads and play in **** like LSU did last night. Growing up in LA, I've played in dozens of slopfests slugging it out ... Lots of "low" and "no" scoring events where turnovers and special teams play are critical ... just try to get any leverage on a block or "DRIVE THRU AND FINISH A BLOCK" So all of a sudden our guys benching 500+ pounds doing karate on the OL are wimps ... Get the phug outta here ... and go pound on your computer keys ... sometimes I wonder where your common sense is :dis:
It's been a dry August in Baton Rouge and the Tigers have an indoor facility to get into when it does threaten to rain. I'm sure they have wet-ball drills, but I bet they haven't worked in muddy field conditions very much. JV perhaps just couldn't make those cuts that broke him for big runs on turf in the SECCG and Sugar Bowl. The linemen found out that they didn't have the traction to exploit their strength advantage. The backs couldn't run at top speed. So now Jimbo knows and I expect he will tweak the plan for rain games in the future. Nobody ever said Jimbo was infallible, but he's the best offensive coordinator in the game right now, it's his last year here before becoming a head coach, and we're damn lucky to have him. He has an amazing track record calling the offense at LSU. Will he blow a call now and then? Sure. Do I give a rats ass? Nope.
