That's simply not true. Miles has shown a willingness to throw deep throughout his coaching career and has said repeatedly that he would like to throw deep more. He simply doesn't have the confidence in the offense right now to do it often. Plus the fact that no one seems capable of stopping the run doesn't force him push the issue. Miles is going with what works, that doesn't mean we are a mostly run and short pass team by design, it's simply whats available to him. If Lee continues to improve his down field passing Miles will open it up some. He will never have a pass happy offense but he admits we need more balance.
Speaking of. . .good grief, Stampley is a PUNISHING blocker. Caught the replay of the MooU game last night, and he was flattening every poor soul that got in his way. It's really a thing of beauty.
We dont line up to pass the ball. We are a run first offense. You know what I am trying to say. Geno Smith - Has thrown 118 times this year Jarrett Lee - Only 58 LSU is not in it for sexy, we are in it to stay tactful and win. If we were down by 2 scores in the 2nd half, then hell yes, the ball better stay in the air. But since we havent had to do that, we dont. We go out, and outplay the competition, making them play our game.
From the beginning of time (football time that is) every dominate program has done it with running the ball and stopping the run. Every great coach in the record books preached it tirelessly to their teams. Great Lines and smash mouth football beats the fancy trends every time.:miles:
Dude, he abused those LBs pretty much the entire night. They have no way to prepare for that kind of punishment.
So is he putting protective coverings over his windows in anticipation of a charge led by General Lee? Or did you mean "shuddering"?
So much the better if they underestimate Lee. I wish they'd keep on. He won't be flying under the radar much longer if his output and consistency continues. Even still though, this information about Lee is so engrained in so many that it'll still give them that little doubt in the back of their minds. In the end this will play out to our advantage. Would it not be AWESOME to send this guy off with him having led us to a National Championship after the storm he's weathered to remain a Tiger? I would be SO pumped for the guy.
Hell yeah, man. Before the season, everyone was talking about what a great story it would be if JJ led us to the promised land, given his struggles in the past. Well THIS scenario would be an even greater story. This would be one of those stories that people tell their kids to keep them motivated.
Hard to say we're flying under the radar when we're in the top 3 in both major polls. But....if we beat WeeVee, that will be three wins against ranked opponents, none in Tiger Stadium. If we're not number one after that, it can only be because a. the voters remain unconvinced that JL has turned the corner, or b. they started the year voting for Oklahoma, and go by the tired old pollster standard that you don't lose position if you're winning.
