Also.......can the 3-3-5 stop our awesome option play? We got a FEVER......and the only prescription...is more option!!
Thats a dumb question! There used to be a guy that played against our defense every day in practice that ran the option well... Maybe you have heard of him? Pat White, you know the QB with the most rushings yards in NCAA history. Or the fact he is the only QB to win 4 bowl games. Yeah we can defend the option.
No, it was a sarcastic question. Few LSU fans like seeing the option. We don't run it well, but Crowton insists on running it anyway.
As stated before, the 3-3-5 plays with 2 safeties up by the line of scrimmage. It will look like there are 8 men in the box. The 3-3-5 generally comes with many blitzes and different looks confusing the QB as to where the 4th man is coming from. It's rather susceptible to the PA if the DBs are not very disciplined. It's more susceptible to the running style that Miles prefers, e.g. downhill, up the gut running than to some of the plays Crowton likes, e.g. the option and perimeter running.
But never an NCAA All-American and is not eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. Trivia: White was named to the Playboy Preseason All-American team after Tim Tebow of the University of Florida turned down the spot based on his Christian beliefs.
We have been guilty of getting beat on good play action. Lining up and trying to run it down our throats wont end up so well though. Better get the ball out of JJs hands and let some of that speed make a play in space. Smash mouth football isnt going to win this game for LSU.
Depends on your depth to be honest. I figure with all the rational thought in me, that LSU will win because of a 4th quarter depth issue by WVU.. IF LSU establishes a slow steady grind on your D, which is always possible, it can be done.
One of the things you guys have failed to realize is we run a no huddle offense. Its hard to sub in defensive players when we are already lined up for the next snap. cause problems for MD, getting hit with an illegal substitution penalty. Hopefully that will negate some of the depth you have. Cant rotate lineman if they have to be ready for the next snap.
It just might, we play in a rugged conference. But it's not the only thing you'll see. We run sweeps, draws, reverses, and the option as well as play-action, shotgun, rollout, and drop-back passing. The SEC is not just about speed. There is a lot of power football played.
Gotta get your 1st downs first buddy. Then again a good number of WVU fans think our D is no good so shouldn't be a problem huh.
