I'm not following. If Bama beats Auburn as part of Auburn's 2 game slide, you can get both (Bama top 10 and Auburn losing twice allowing LSU to get into the SEC CG). We end up with a top 10 win over Bama in the computer polls and end up with a lone loss to a top 15 computer poll team (Auburn). I will take that all day long if it means we get a chance for a 12th win in the SEC CG.
I don't think the Big East CAN be shut out this year, unless I'm not understanding you correctly. BCS: Qualification, eligibility and selection guidelines
Way too early to be talking about the NCG. How can LSU take care of business in Ole Miss and stop Ryan Mallett/Arkansas seems like a better topic right now. If we win out, we'll see what the rest of the country does, but we should worry about our remaining SEC schedule because Arkansas is nowhere near in the books.
I'll see what I can dig up, but from what I remember, if you are not in the top 18 in the BCS, you are not guaranteed a BCS bowl game and can be overlooked for some other at-large that would otherwise quality for a BCS bowl game. Scratch that. They are guaranteed a spot. I do remember a few years back a Big East Champ was not even in the top 25 similiar to what will happen this year) and was selected.
No one is saying LSU is guaranteed to win out. In fact, I believe the very first post mentions that LSU winning out will be a tough challenge.
Yeah, I think that's the "at large" qualification rules - the Big East champ will automatically qualify based on the second rule I quoted. It's just that no other Big East team would be eligible for a second BCS slot.
I don't see that the voters would EVER put us above a one loss AU. They need two loses. If they lose to the SECE team in the SECC game, I still don't think that the voters will put them below us and I don't think that the computers will override the polls in this case since our strength of schedule will be similar. Let's start this off with a great big L for UA this weekend...
