DO NOT underestimate the job that man did at LSU.

    WE DID NOT OVERPAY HIM!

I wish him and his family the best for years to come.

Yeah right, lets just go get some guy off the street holding a "Will be Chancellor for Food" sign. The reason Emmert got the kind of pay he did is because of the Old Fashioned Way - He Eaaarred It. Now you want to grab some Goober or Gomer and pay him minimum wage to be Blanco's flunky to preside of the downfall of everything Emmert was in the process of building.

don't live the nile, err denial. The man earned his keep. Let me just refresh your memory...92,000* 50=$4,600,000 for one game. (just rough math to make a point)
and 18 mill divided amongst the conference for LSU winning the NC? that was just one year. he was the catalyst for all of it. his salary was meaningless.

Or we could just all kill ourselves because this is such a tragedy...

Why do you think that Emmert is the one and only. From reading some of these posts one would think that he was actually nailed to a cross. He is a human being with exceptional abilities and remarkable vision - attributes of that quality are at a premium, but he ain't the only girl at the dance.

And thats only on the athletic side. His accomplishments on the academic side are equally impressive. Had Emmert been allowed to finish his goal of making LSU one of the premier research universities in the USA that alone would have brought in billions of dollars in federal grants.

he is if LSU decides to do as it did for the previous decade or so.... get one of the old school boys to remain status quo. Where's Wharton? He is probably on the list.

Emmert is as important as Saban is...at least imo and I wouldn't lessen St. Nick's importance.

Emmert took us..."stupider" words haven't been spoken since martin told us all on the political board that the police can't coerce him to follow laws that he doesn't want to, because they can't make him do what he doesn't want to do...LOL!

Dude...I have mentioned the 20 year master plan for a WHILE now...Have you ever stopped and taken a look at it? I mean, really? Have you seen the plans they have for Louisiana State University? It's unreal what they're going to make this University into...due to Emmert's impetus...New construction, reworked athletic physical plant...Refurbished buildings...future academic entrace requirements, etc...

    That was all him...

When he came here, he instituted faculty and professors, deans and scientists alike show up on the first day of freshman reporting to the dorms to help them move in, talk to them, and let them know that the Administration was-in fact-there for them.

He talked with everyone from facility service workers in the cafeteria late at night during Hurricane warnings to students who e-mailed him for staying when South Carolina wooed him.

He left an imprint not only on the very visible Athletic Department, but an indelible one on the University at large as well.

Enrollment soared, the city of Baton Rouge enjoyed a Renaissance, etc...Because of the vision, and the guidance, and the perserverance of Mark Emmert...

To make such an uninformed and ill advised statement speaks not to ones relative level of intelligence...but to one's relative level of ignorance of Emmert's overall imprint on the Ole War Skule...

It goes much farther than the AD...It goes much deeper than Nick Saban...

Emmert was a an academic superstar...A definite diamond in the rough.

He will be replaced by someone who ran Conoco Phillips' Lafayette Office, or a former President of the Louisiana Chapter of the Collegiate Democrats, or-better yet-Cecil Picard or another "capable entity".

What a coincidence...Clayton Wilcox, the Superintendent of the BR School System who did what "alleged superstar" Gary Williams could not do, end the school deseg case, leaves for Tampa...Now Emmert leaves...

Baton Rouge's capable educators and administrators are fleeing the city, and leaving the state in the lurch...

Do you think it's just the water? Happenstance? Coincidence?

    I think not...

Emmert is no longer a part of LSU's future, he is part of our past. Just because we have only had one Mark Emmert at LSU doesn't mean that there is only one Emmert type guy walking the face of the Earth. LSU is bigger than Mark Emmert and not the other way around.

So what's your point? A $7 an hour janitor puts his pants on one leg at a time just like you and me and Donald Trump and Bill Gates. Who would you rather invest your money with? Nick Saban is "just a man" just like Gerry DiNardo and Curley Hallman. Of course it is possible to replace Emmert with somebody who might be just as good or even better but it won't get done your way by low balling the job and hoping to hire somebody who would take it for half the money just because it is a great opportunity. Didn't you learn anything from the coaching hires of Mike Archer, Curley Hallman and Gerry DiNardo.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

What are we discussing here? He LEFT LSU - he's not considering it, he LEFT. What do you suggest? Why not discuss the future and the hand we've been dealt? Why do we need to keep harping on the fact that he was so wonderful - we agree on that.
