Hall of famer, baby! I know you have to be estatic to watch Biggio hitting like the days of old. 3000 hits is not out of the question. He needs to average 180 hits in these next 3 seasons. He is on pace for 200 this year. I think I figured it to be about a .273 average or so to get 180 hits (given that he makes his usual plate appearances of course).
I grew up a stros fan and love the killer b's but im not too sure Biggio makes it in the HOF even with 3000 hits. You think McGriff is in with/if 500 HRs? I don't.
3000 hits should be automatic into the HOF. 500 dingers used to be the benchmark but with the explosion of HRs in recent years I don't know if the Crime Dog gets in. As of now there are no eligble players with 500 who are not in the Hall.
If you get to 500 by using the DH, i think they hold it against the player. Biggio is doing it in 3 of the toughest positions to play (C, 2B, CF). He, and Bagwell, should get in. Mainly because they played their entire career with one team (hopefully)
I think Biggio will make it if he gets to 3000. McGriff will be on the bubble and maybe Rafael Palmiero too unless Palmiero sticks around long enough to get close 600. As a spokesman for Viagra he should have the staying power.
