I think that the UF players will respond to this on the field - If I were a UGA fan I would be really nervous right now. Often times players take things like this very personally because they believed in the coach enough to sign with the school and they worked their tails off to learn his system and his ways. I get the feeling that Florida will play with a lot of guts and determination down the stretch for their coach. Spurrier IS Florida football, but most of this Gator team has never even met Steve Spurrier...

I would like to see Zook return and coac hte Saints D. When he was the D Cooridnator the Saints had the #3 Defense in the league.

here is the story you are referencing. some interesting quotes....

    http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/7831483

Players strongly defended their coach Tuesday and chastised athletic director Jeremy Foley for the timing of the move.

"He basically just ripped the heart out of the team," safety Jarvis Herring said. "He kept saying it was all about the team, all about the team. No, it's not about the team. It's really about the damn boosters and the fans or whatever. That's all it's about. It's nothing about us. We're just in the middle. We're just trapped."

"Some of the guys are really thinking about leaving," Herring said. "They're tired of some of the decisions being made upstairs by you-know-who."

I don't remember the Saints being that good defensively under him. Have the Saints gone down that much on defense since he left?

yeah they gave a up a new Saints record in yardage against the Vikes--605. even the worst saints team gave up only 525 to that point so that's a nice little perspective. sunday night in new orleans with Moss hurt entire 2nd half. Zero punts (the entire game zero punts I mean).

Most likely he will be back in the NFL as an assistant.

This thing is turning out to be a mess solely because of the timing. Herring is right, this move basically screws the team's rest of the season. The university is telling the players we don't care about what happens the rest of the way. This easily could have ben put off until the nano-second after the last game. Who knows, it could have ended up being a bowl game. Florida has the athletes to compete. Now they really are going to lack coaching !
