Thoughts?? This reminded me of the Notre Dame fans' attitudes. :hihi: http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/20061210-9999-1s10specials.html
I think its stupid and I hate it. They're applying for school. I know its not going to change so I dont get that upset over it.
Obviously, this was thrown in as another taunt against ND. But, frankly, I don't get it. If anything, MeyerBadHire chickened out of coaching ND because the administration wouldn't give him the special admits he felt he needed to win at ND.
This has been going on for years and should be no surprise to anyone. I suspect the numbers are quite high in the SEC, except Vandy. It doesn't bother me in the least and I certainly don't give it a second thought while I'm watching LSU play. If we didn't do it, we would all suck like ND...
No, actually it was thrown out as a taunt against you........you're the only one I ever hear harping on that subject. You responded on cue just like I knew you would.........beyotch. :hihi: Not sure where the SEC stacks up, it was a survey of 19 Western public institutions, but not all schools are exploiting the clause.
I'm willing to bet that those who aren't doing it struggle to compete in football. You can get away with it in basketball and other minor sports b/c of fewer schollies, but not football. See Vandy and Duke.
Interesting comparison I came across this morning... While S. Carolina has had 84% of it's last three classes enrolled as special admits, Clemson, on the other hand, has had 35.
I saw much discussion when this article first came out because utla fans are the first ones to claim that a recruit can't meet academic requirements when the recruit commits elsewhere. utla has typically avoided recruiting high schools with lower academic success but supposedly one reason why Dorrell hired Eric Scott out of the Shaw. Curious as to what sports San Diego State is competing in with all those special admits. FWIW, I doubt the SEC has any higher number than any other conference and I'm sure the irish have their share as well.
