about to start 7 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center The game will be televised on the SEC Network --Alexandria-KLAX-DT2 (ABC 31) --Baton Rouge-WBXH --Lafayette-KADN (Fox 15) --Monroe-KARD (Fox 14) --New Orleans-WUPL (My 54) --Shreveport-KSHV (My 45) only two weeks left the regular season, and this is LSU's 2nd-to-last home game coach Jones on LSU's last four games: "I'll tell you we have a really tough four-game stretch, two at home and two on the road against four quality basketball teams. It will be a challenge for us. You want to be playing well at the right time. If we can do a great job in these last four leading into the conference tournament, it would mean a lot for us. You want to get hot at the right time. If you can get in that tournament and win you a couple of games, anything can happen. That's something that we look forward to, and I think anybody can make a run in that conference tournament." coach Jones on Arkansas: "Well, they're a little different because of their ability to scramble. The way that they press is a little bit different than what we do. It's very extended. They've got about 10 or 12 guys, and the length of time that they generally like to perform or play that way. For us, it's more certain times of the game that we'll get into our press, and we don't have the numbers to extend it the way that they've done over the years. They've had a great deal of success. We're going to have to do a great job of taking care of the basketball, get back defensively and make sure that we get stops...If you score, you better get back. If you turn it over, you better get back against them." "I think guys will...be challenged like we've been all year. We've just got to make sure that we're ready and understand that we're going to have to be extremely focused throughout the game."
Arkansas sophomore guard B.J. Young was 2nd-Team All-SEC last year as a freshman. Coming out of high school, he was: #16 on the ESPN100, 5-star #23 on the Scout100, 5-star #23 on the Top247, 5-star #25 on the Rivals100, 5-star this season, he is Arkansas' #1 scorer, averaging 15.7 points per game (45.2% field goal pct) with a season-best 29 against Arizona State (Pac 12) coach Jones on Young: "Well, our goal is to try to just contain him, just like people do Anthony (Hickey). You catch him out there in the open floor, and they're extremely good. We've got to try to do a great job of staying down in front of him and make sure that we try to limit the plays that he's going to make because he's going to make plays. We're just hopeful that we can do a great job as a team. It's a real strong, or tough, assignment just for one individual. So, it will definitely be a group effort."
Arkansas junior forward Marshawn Powell is a close second in scoring for Arkansas, averaging 14.8 points per game this season (51.7% field goal pct) with a season-best 33 against Oklahoma (Big XII). as a recruit, he was rated: #63 on the Scout100, 4-star #67 on the ESPN100, 4-star #72 on the Rivals100, 4-star
Arkansas freshman guard Anthlon Bell (who averaged 25 points per game as a high school senior last year) has scored 14 and 17 points in the last two games, including going 9-of-18 (50%) from three point line coach Jones on Bell: "If Bell catches it, I think you have to have somebody close to him and have to get a hand up and defend him. You can't leave him open because he should be playing extremely confidently right now."
