I think it is bs for any coach to resign from or entertain the thought of coaching another school until the current football season is completely finished. In my opinion it's just unnecessary. The league should impose a heafty fine for any coach that resigns before his teams current football season is complete. What do you guys think???

No school can "fine" a coach for resigning before a season is over, not should it be allowed to. For one thing, it is not in any contract I know of.

Of course there's a fine...If Les Miles leaves for Michigan, he has to pay LSU $1.25 million...I'd say that's a fine...If he leaves for another team, I think it is $500,000.

I think there should be a fine for those starting a thread about their own coach leaving before the end of the season.

Consideration for the school that has to pay that fine.

    It's Thursday everybody. THINK PIG!

It's got nothing to do with a "free market society." It does have to do with equity though. So long as scholarship athletes cannot transfer from school to school without penalty, coaches should not be allowed to freely break contracts either. And yes, I know, the buyout clause is a form of penalty. But not every coach has buyout clauses, and that does not stop them from walking out on their contracts. I guess I'm old fashioned and still think a person's word should mean something, but I think if a coach signs a 4-year contract, he honors it, no matter what other opportunity comes along.

That is so very true. Sign a 4 year contract with Uncle Sugar and see where you go!
