I disagree what Kelly did was the norm, but if it is, that's also a sad reflection of where our society - and college football - is as a whole. Unlike the old days, we don't value relationships and it's all about doing what makes us feel good and screw everybody else. Just remember if he did it to them, he could do it to us. I feel confident in saying you won't have the same opinion should Kelly - or any HC - suddenly abandon LSU in the midst of a NC run and basically gives his team a short speech and a quick wave goodbye as he jumps on a jet to his next destination. His former players deserved better!
According to all the talking heads Bama will be obliterated. The lead up to the game feels exactly like it did in the 93 Sugar Bowl. I predict a win for us but the margin of victory will guarantee that I will have come close to having a stroke at least once.
When the NCAA created the early signing date they did not consider the consequences on the firing & hiring of new coaches. The urgency to name a new coach after the season is over and to allow him some time to recruit for his new team has created (or acerbated) the ugly departures. The NCAA may need to slide the signing date back another week or move it to early/mid Jan as a single signing date.
Those kids/men should be playing for ND not Kelly. ND is giving them the free education that’s their boss, Kelly is just the manager. I would hope our players see it the same way, you play for the letters on the front not the back.
