I understand he has a past, but he's been clean for several years now. I understand he misused his cellphone for personal use, but really that's between he and his wife. As for recruiting violations, that was many years ago, and with NIL paying players, everybody is paying players now. The good news is he has a history of beating Saban and is an excellent recruiter. He's been light's out at Liberty and his QB is projected to be a top-5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Just don't understand why he's not getting mentioned.
Given our recent history I'd rather not be the high profile program that puts it's name on the line to prove Freeze is reformed. We have enough full suitcases and shouldn't hire someone with baggage, even if it's old baggage. IMO.
As I recall, the issue with cell phone use was allegedly arranging/paying for hookers for recruits. So not just between him/wife. Not saying he was first/only to do so but he was dumb enough to not have a burner or a bagman.
That's a good point. When this broke I remember thinking how stupidly nieve he was to think he could get away something this blatant. Did he really think a 17 or 18 year old boy was not going to brag that he banged hot woman on a recruiting trip? He might have gotten cleaner; the question is did he get smarter.
I thought he was arranging escorts for himself. I don't remember recruits being part of that situation, but I could be wrong. Was anything ever proven and did the NCAA ever hand down penalties pertaining to that situation? All I know is he's a great HC and based on his past and current teams, he could possibly make LSU a NC contender on a pretty regular basis. The reality is college football is one of the dirtiest businesses around and he's been in the SEC before, so he knows how to play the recruiting game, which is the key to winning consistently.
Probably because Hugh Freeze won 12 games at Ole Miss & lost 25. Hard to really tell with all the forfeits though.
because hes a pseudo christian hypocrite. he used his family and religion to create a persona but hes a fake and a liar though a good coach.
Surprised he can get players to play for him. It seems to me trustworthiness is a big factor to success in recruiting.
