Is this the largest number of underclassmen to declare

in a single season for LSU?

I cannot ever remember this many people leaving the program in one year. I certainly didn't expect Logan, Ware, Minter, Wing and Simon to declare. That means with Mingo, Montgomery and Reid that is 8 players that left the program. All Starters except Ware. Wow.

  3. LSU has not held its higher talent to a senior year. Matt Mauck 2003-2004 and that far back.

    Who does?
  5. PURPLE TIGER HOPE is not a strategy!

I can't blame most of them though I believe a few would benefit by returning. I just hope Dale Brown and crew can help those who haven't graduated return someday to finish up.

Let's see how many are drafted and make NFL rosters. That will potentially influence the decisions of future underclassmen considering leaving early for the NFL.

It almost NEVER does...............look how many keep doing it. I have seen several boards where Wing does not even get drafted. In baseball with high school players it is even worse IMO.

Upon further review, you're probably correct. Probably further proof that you can lead 'em to water, but you can't make 'em drink.

Note the Chavis quote at the bottom of this paragraph from a Sports Illustrated article published after we beat Washington earlier this season....

LSU's support system comes from a
seemingly endless supply of young talent.
Saturday, the Tigers played 19 freshmen
or redshirt freshmen and 17 sophomores.
The defensive line, which accounted for
three sacks and six hurries, constantly
rotates in fresh players. "I think we're a
little deeper than we were last year," said
    defensive end Barkevious Mingo. "We're
six or seven deep at end." That depth
comes from a willingness to toss young
players into the pool and with the hope
they can swim. "We play a lot of people,"
    defensive coordinator John Chavis said.
"We don't recruit guys to redshirt. ... If
you've recruited the right kind of people,
they're not going to be here for four years
    anyway."

  10. That is the point or key to it.
